We've all heard the stories and we've all read about it in magazines, The Barn Find! Finding that near perfect, 1940's /50's style Hot Rod in a barn, stowed away in a time capsule, waiting to be brought back to life and terrorize the streets once again.
That's the story with this 1932 Ford roadster. The body was pulled out of a shed in the exact condition you see it here. The only thing we did was rub it out lightly by hand with a very fine compound to get back as much of the original shine as we could. This is one of the nicest original '32 Ford bodies I have ever seen, I couldn't find a patch panel anywhere. While the paint isn't perfect, it has it's flaws and is worn through in some spots, it's got just the right amount of patina and it would have been an absolute sin to redo this piece of hot rod history (see photos below).
The car rides on a Fully Boxed "1932 Ford Frame" made from ASC rails. The front of the frame has been Pinched in to follow the shape of the hood and the front horns have been Bobbed Off. This style has been used on many of the cars that have raced at Bonneville, El Mirage, and Muroc. It was made famous by The Doane Spencer Roadster and the Pierson Brother's coupe giving all three cars their timeless, stream lined looks.
The Suspension is made up from an Original 1933 Ford axle up front, it is held in place by a set of split wishbones. Both front and rear axles are hung from a traverse leaf spring for a very Traditional Hot Rod look. Stopping power comes from a brand new Pete and Jake's floor mounted master cylinder with new brake lines and hoses all around. The brake system has the correct Wilwood residual pressure valves installed. 1940 Ford brakes up front, with new shoes and all new hardware. 1949 Ford brakes in the back, new wheel cylinders at all four corners. Everything that counts for safety and reliability is either new or has been rebuilt.
This bad ass roadster gets it's power from a 1949 Ford Flathead. Fuel is fed down through a 2x2 Offenhauser intake topped with two rebuilt Ford 94 carburetors. The motor is hopped up with many speed accessories such as Offenhauser finned aluminum heads and high flow headers. The exhaust escapes through a set of hand made lake pipes that are wrapped in brown header tape for a vintage race look. New fuel tank, lines and filter. The motor is kept cool by a Brand New '32 Ford Style radiator made by Walker. This is the correct radiator to fit the grille shell and cool the engine properly.
Other features include Stewart Warner Gauges (all gauges work), Pete and Jake's hydraulic clutch (this is the smoothest clutch I've ever used), lever shocks at all four corners, New Steering Box, 1949 Ford steering wheels and column, Highly sought after Original Guide Head Lights (with working guide lights on top, these are original lights, not the cheap reproductions with the wrong screws on the guide housing), Two inch chopped windshield with two inch chopped removable top (the top is done in the same color fabric as the interior), New Brookville Dash, trunk lid, and 25 louver hood, Vintique Grille surround, insert, and bezel, 16 inch wheels wrapped in Firestone 4.75x16's up front and 7.50x16s in the back, 1950 Pontiac tail lights, hand made rear window (wood) ... The list goes on...
This is a complete turn key hot rod. It needs Nothing, just get in and go.
